Claudia is walking again without pain after years of struggling! I was born with a defect in my right hand and left foot. My right foot was a club foot. When I was a baby I had surgery for a hip defect. All this made me run very late. I got my first prosthesis when I was eight years old from a shoemaker, who later also went into orthopedics. In the end, I have stayed with this instrument shop all my life and have never had any problems with my prosthesis. Struggling for years My instrument maker retired at a certain point and I got a young colleague. And not for one thing or another, because this man tried very hard, but it was no longer possible to make a good prosthesis. I continued to have inflammation on my stump, corns and calluses formed. It was years of struggle. I had so many complaints, took painkillers and antibiotics galore until the moment came when I was very fed up. From Limburg to Amsterdam I then started “googling” on the internet and ended up on the Protec site in Amsterdam. I live in Limburg myself, but I was certainly willing to make that trip. I had to know if things could be done differently and better. After I had submitted my application, I was immediately called back by the director, Marcel Conradi, and I was able to go the same week. You are not a number here It is different, you are not a number and time is taken for you. The instrument maker made a new provision, he explained step by step what the intention was and what he was doing. The prosthesis was ready quickly and could be fitted immediately. I was also asked what I wanted with the prosthesis, what I planned to do. I found it homey and casual. Video calling is also possible After that first appointment and the fitting, I went back two more times to have things adjusted. And sometimes it is possible to have a video call and to discuss things with each other. A doctor was also involved yesterday. That is certainly very nice considering the great distance! I can walk without pain again! I have been walking without pain for two weeks! Now the prosthesis is nicely finished and I can continue.
